Allows deaf-blind users to read anything on their phone
"TouchReader" (TM) is a powerful accessibility tool for visually and hearing impaired users. It converts any text on your android phone to Morse Code using haptic feedback. In other words, it creates short and long vibrations that the user can feel. This application allows deaf-blind users full access to everything on their phone, including email, texts, notifications, messages, web browsing, all installed apps and more.
Here is how to install it
I created this app for my close friend and former colleague, Tony. He had to leave work due to illness. Tony lost his vision and went through extended periods where he could not hear. TouchReader was both of our ideas. Tony had the insight to use haptic Morse Code to read. I discovered Talkback and worked on modifying it so that when Tony eventually loses his hearing, he will still be able to communicate with the world.
And then, we realized that this app could help more than just Tony. There are millions of people with deaf-blindness. We truly hope this app is useful for you or someone close to you!!!
We don't collect your data. We just want to create a great app that's helpful for the deaf-blind community. Here is a link to our privacy policy.
TouchReader is based on Google Talkback. As such, it is a very stable application which is used by millions of people. We have done our best to make a tool which will be useful to the deaf-blind community. That said, it is offered "as-is" without guarantees. Please report any problems you find and we will do our best to fix them.
TouchReader is an extension of the Google Talkback (TM) Open Source code. We acknowledge and thank them for making their project open source.
